Two anti-child abuse advocates had criminal defamation chargesagainst them thrown out by a District Court judge today.
Wendy Utting and Malcolm Barry Standfield were alleged to have made falsestatements about a serving politician, a former politician and two policeofficers.
It was alleged they had implicated the public figures in pedophilia by faxinga letter and statutory declarations to a “large number of media outlets.
Judge Marie Shaw ruled that it would not be possible, based on the evidence,to reach a conclusion of guilt beyond reasonable doubt in this matter.
Outside court today, Mr Standfield said he had no regrets about his actionsand remained committed to uncovering the extent of child sexual abuse.
“You know, you make a commitment and go ahead with what you think is rightand just, he said.
